The Duke of Edinburgh Award

For each level of the Award more commitment, time and skill is required of a young person. For the Service, Skill and Physical recreations sections of the Award, approximately an hour a week is required on each of the activities. Participants will also be required to attend all training for the Expedition which involves a session once a week for two terms, a training day and a practice expedition to prepare for the qualifying venture.
 
BRONZE
Expedition    2 days/1 night in the local area
Service   3 months
Skill        3 months    
Physical Recreation 3 months
 
You must also complete an additional 3 months in one of the above sections.
 
SILVER
Expedition  3 days/2 nights in an unfamiliar area
Service   6 months
Skill and Physical Recreation 3 months in one and 6 in the other

If you have not completed the Bronze you must complete an extra six months in the Service or the longer of the Skills or Physical Recreation sections.
 
GOLD
Expedition 4 days/3 night in wild country
Service   12 months
Skill and Physical Recreation  6 months in one and 12 in the other

If you have not completed silver you must complete an extra six months in either the service or the longer of the skills or physical recreation sections.
