In the Junior competition North and Cubitt won through convincingly against the girls’ Houses with Cubitt beating East in the next round.   Loveday won their semi-final against North and a close final was anticipated, especially with the strength of captains James Atkinson and Will Graham-Rack. 

 

The match, on February 28^th, proved to be nail-bitingly close with the final score (530-490) masking the fact that if Cubitt had got the final starter, the result might well have been reversed. The scores were either level or with just 10 points (one question) difference after 12 of the 32 rounds and there was only one round, until the end, after which the gap was more than 30. Even when this happened, and Loveday were 60 ahead, Cubitt got a perfect 50 point bonus round to pull almost level. The winning team comprised Will Graham-Rack, Andy Rose, Chris Lehrter and Sam Barrett
