Cranleigh Features Large on Varsity Hockey Day

Cranleigh School’s 1st XI hockey team have been invited to play before the Oxford and Cambridge Varsity hockey match, in an invitation game against Abingdon. The match takes place at noon on Tuesday 4th March at Southgate Hockey Club in front of hundreds of spectators including the School’s current Head and Oxford Blue, Guy Waller as well as Old Cranleighan and hockey Olympian, David Westcott.  Furthermore, the Oxford team in the main event will be captained by David Cresswell, an Old Cranleighan.

Cranleigh’s 1st XI has enjoyed an excellent season so far, starting with a 6-2 victory over Tonbridge and also taking the scalps of Eton and Whitgift. Captained by Paddy Harman, they are a young side, full of potential and very much looking forward to the day.  Cranleigh has an excellent sporting reputation, not just in hockey, and the team will be hoping to justify this on Tuesday.
