Pupils Create Sculpture for Cubitt House
| Head Guy Waller unveiled an exciting new sculpture in the Cubitt Quad on Tuesday 26th February. A select band of invited guests and Cubittians looked on as Mr Waller revealed this fantastic art-work before making a short speech in which he noted how the sculpture represented the multi-faceted nature of a Cranleigh education. It is adorned with engravings of hands engaged in a wide variety of pursuits: playing musical instruments; painting; playing sport; and extended in gestures of friendship.
The sculpture was the inspiration of teacher Tom Barnett with help from Kathy Raine, but one of the most pleasing aspects was the involvement of Cubitt boys and some girls affiliated to the House in the making of the designs for the tiles. Housemaster Charlie Boddington also extended his appreciation to all those involved in the sculpture’s creation, noting that it fits perfectly into the new quad setting and is a tremendous addition to the House, providing a feature that will be admired and appreciated by many future generations of Cubittians.
