Star Line-up for Charity Cricket Match in June

Cranleigh School is delighted to host Eric Clapton’s XI against The Bunburys, a charity cricket match. Eric was a founding member of The Bunburys, the country’s best-known team of touring celebrities and former cricket professionals, whose first match was played in Ripley, Surrey. More than twenty years later The Bunburys are still playing, raising funds for worthwhile causes and entertaining the fans. We look forward to a memorable day on 8th June.
The match has been sponsored by Brit Insurance, sponsors of Surrey County Cricket Club and the Brit Insurance Oval; Matthew Burns, a new privately-owned agency specialising in the sale of individual property; and Bramley, specialists in the restoration and sale of high-specification cars are sponsoring the teams.
The match aims to raise significant funds for
the Longacre Jubilee Appeal; CHASE Children’s Hospice, Guildford;
Crossroads Centre, the rehabilitation centre in Antigua founded by Eric Clapton, and
The English Schools Cricket Association.
This exciting and prestigious event will take place on Sunday, 8th June and we hope it will be really well supported. A provisional teams list includes: Eric Clapton (right), Bill Wyman, Mark Austin (ITN and Cranleigh parent, pictured below), John Inverdale (BBC Sport); former England players Phil Tufnell, Jack Russell and Alan Lamb; and, dusting off his whites for the day, Cranleigh Head Guy Waller.
