Exercise March Hare
| Despite an incredibly hectic second half of term a full complement of forty cadets and all six CCF staff were deployed to Long Valley on the Aldershot training area for our annual 24-hour exercise over the night of the 1-2 March. Once everyone had arrived after their various sporting commitments we were able to send out recce patrols to suspected enemy locations. These were largely successful, though one or two section commanders found that their map reading in the dark left a little to be desired!
In the morning, after a night under bashers, a blank firing exercise got the blood moving and led on to a full scale assault on the enemy position, ably led by CSM Charlie Hunt and Major McConnell-Wood. It will come as no surprise that the British won the day and that we all managed to get back to Cranleigh in time for a hot bath followed by tea and medals before evening call –over.
