Head of Modern Languages to “Bike the Baltic”

Paul Crosfield, Head of Modern Languages, is preparing to undertake a 630km cycle ride across Poland and into Lithuania to raise money for charity. The six-day dash from Warsaw to Vilnius is the first stage of a 2,500km challenge taking participants all the way to St. Petersburg.  However, most competitors will undertake just one stage and the aim is to raise millions of pounds for Marie Curie Cancer Care, who celebrate their 60th birthday this year.
Paul says “This is a challenge I am really looking forward to, but I think it will be quite tough.  I have to complete over 100km every day and it will be probably be quite hot out there in August.  I am so impressed with the amazing adventures and tests of endurance that the pupils and my colleagues here do to raise money for charity, that I thought it was time I did more than just cycle to and from school every day.  I haven’t done anything like this since my student days, so I need to get in training.
I have to raise £2500 for Marie Curie, so all sponsorship is very welcome.  Many pupils, parents, friends and colleagues have already been very generous, but I still have some way to go to raise the amount needed for this excellent cause. You can donate on-line at www.justgiving.com/paulcrosfield or cheques should be made out to “Marie Curie Cancer Care” and sent to me at the school.  Many thanks.”
