| Rugby is the main sport for boys in the Michaelmas Term, with sixteen school sides competing regularly on Saturdays. Cranleigh has a fine tradition for the quality of its rugby, with the 1st XV widely recognized as one of the strongest on the circuit. However, we are equally proud of what our younger and less talented D team players achieve as we are of the likes of Sam Smith, Sam Sutcliffe and Will Collier, who have all represented England at U18 or U16 group this year.
Weekly practices are supported by conditioning sessions, and the School also has the support of professional sports injury and physiotherapy teams. The School benefits from strong links with the well-known Old Cranleighan Rugby club, based at Thames Ditton.
The House Leagues competition, for non A squad pupils, based on pupil weights, which runs over a number of Tuesday sessions throughout the term, is always very popular.
In the Lent term rugby’s focus changes to sevens, with the U18 team entering four tournaments, including the Rosslyn Park and Surrey County competitions.
