Centrally located, our 25m 4-lane indoor pool is put to full use throughout the year. Next to the indoor pool is a 6-lane 33m outdoor pool, which is heated throughout the Summer term. During the winter terms, pupils compete regularly in water-polo matches, including participation in the London Schools’ league, with some senior pupils choosing this sport as their main one for one or two terms. In the Summer term, the swimming teams compete weekly in inter-school galas, with the boys and girls training together midweek. Our top swimmers take part in the Bath Cup; last year our boys’ team won silver and bronze medals, and the girls achieved their best result in recent years: ninth out of the 42 competing schools.
Some pupils take advantage of the life-guarding courses
that are available once or twice each year, obtaining a qualification that can earn them some extra pocket-money in holidays, or after they leave school. Life-saving courses are also available as part of the activity programme.
