Sport

The School has six Eton fives courts situated in the centre of the School campus, and Cranleigh is one of about 30 schools in the country playing the sport actively. Fives is played by a healthy number of Cranleighans (including an OCs’ team) and all new pupils have the opportunity to learn this rather idiosyncratic sport. We are helped here by our visiting professional, who runs sessions for beginners and team players on Tuesday afternoons. Regular fixtures are organized in the Michaelmas and Lent terms for boys and girls, including matches against all the top fives playing schools. These include Highgate, Shrewsbury, Eton and St Olave’s. The highlight of the year is the Fives National Championships held at the end of the Lent term.
