IT

It is important that you leave the school with an effective knowledge of computing skills – skills which will be vital to you in the world of work and in your personal life. The school has a policy of Information Technology across the curriculum and, in the pursuit of this policy, the use of IT in creative and productive ways in all your studies is strongly encouraged.

The school has a considerable IT provision which is available to you in the main IT Department, in most academic departments and, at specific times, within the boarding houses and day-residences. All computers around the school are networked and internet access is available under appropriately controlled conditions too. Some pupils choose to use their own laptop machines regularly and readily in the classroom and laboratory where appropriate and we now have wireless provision in several key areas around the campus.

Lower School

Information Technology is delivered through individual subjects in the Fourth Form, Lower and Upper Fifth. Each subject provides a series of tasks, which are completed using various aspects of IT, such as word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, the Internet, and subject-specific software.

Sixth Form

The school has a policy of Information Technology across the curriculum and, in the pursuit of this policy, the use of IT in your Sixth Form studies is strongly encouraged.
