County Success for Girls' Hockey Teams

The hockey club was delighted that all three teams (cc_news_sport_hockey_regional.pngU18, U16 and U14) won their groups in the heats stages of the Surrey competition this year. The U16 and U14 teams performed particularly well with a final tally of 44 goals for with only 1 against.

The U18 team then went on to beat City of London Freemen’s in a nail-biting semi-final where we went through on flicks, before losing to St George’s in the final 1-3. As runners-up in the Surrey competition they qualify for the next stage in the National competition, taking part in the South regional heats on Thursday 25th November (at Woking HC).

The U16s were less fortunate in their semi-final, losing on flicks to Reigate Grammar after a 4-4 score at full-time. However, they then went on to win the 3rd/4th play-off against Sir William Perkins and were pleased to come away with bronze medals for their efforts.

The U14 team won their semi-final, yesterday, beating Epsom 6-0. Unfortunately they were not able to repeat their victory of earlier in the term against St George’s, losing 1-5 in the final. Like the U18s, they too now progress to the South regional heats, to be played on Thursday 1st December.
