Cranleigh riders were on fine form at the recent Surrey County Challenge held at Great Bookham Equestrian Centre.  Most of the riders were jumping outside on grass for the first time this year, which always presents new challenges, but from our grassroots riders to our open riders none were phased by this.

Sam Hollidge won the Individual Surrey title in the 75cm show jumping and will represent Surrey at the County Challenge Finals at Bury Farm in Buckinghamshire this coming weekend.  We followed this with a win in the 85cm team competition and Sam will be joined by Josh Moore, Ella Pilling and Poppy Watkinson who will represent Surrey at this event in the final.  The 95cm team of Ella and Jess Pilling, Poppy Watkinson and Charlotte Livingstone finished in second place in their class and Jess and Charlotte then joined Amelia Adorian to win the Surrey title in the Open competition, a particularly pleasing result given that they were only a team of three.

Not to be outdone by the older, more experienced riders, our grassroots competitors stormed to a win in the 55cm team class with Lulu Garlick, Issi Hollidge, Imogen60s Fortescue and Heather Andrews taking the honours (and individual 4th and 5th for Lulu and Imogen).  They then took second (Freddy Moore; Bronte Monks; Issi) and fourth (Lulu; Heather; Imogen) places in the 65cm class before Freddy Moore and Imogen went on to take fourth and fifth respectively in the 70cm individual class.Imogen

The dressage competition was both the Surrey County Competition and a qualifier for the National Championships in October.  An individual win for Amelia Adorian in the Prelim test gained her an individual qualification for the championships and she was joined by Chantelle Phillips (3rd in the Novice test); Josh Moore and Freya Hough to win the team competition and take the Surrey title as well as the qualification for the team event in October, where we will of course be defending our national title.
