Sixth Former, Theo Golden, has sung his way to a main part in the prestigious Glyndebourne YouthTheo Opera this summer. Glyndebourne Youth Opera performance projects have earned a reputation for excellence and competition is fierce, making Theo’s achievement outstanding at just 16 years old.

Last term Theo auditioned to work with Glyndebourne vocal talent consultant Mary King and renowned composer, conductor and keyboard expert Howard Moody to create a new interpretation of Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas. Theo will be performing the part of the Spirit and singing Countertenor. The project will focus on singing and interpreting Purcell’s music, with an emphasis on pared-back production, movement and physical theatre. This is a unique and exciting project working with leading experts in the field on a truly great piece of early English opera. The project is working towards a performance in the Ebert Room at Glyndebourne in August.

Theo is also kept busy singing with the National Youth Choir and each Saturday attends the Junior Department at The Royal Academy of Music for conducting and vocal lessons.
