Cranleigh fields four competitive age-group water polo teams over the Michaelmas and Lent terms. We aim to play approximately 16 matches at U19 level, 10 at U16 level and 8 at U14 level. These include the English Schools and London Schools’ Water Polo League competitions. The U19s train 3 times per week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and the squad is drawn from the UV, LVI and UVI years. The U16/U15 and U14 squads have the opportunity to train once a week during the Monday Activities slot from 2pm-3pm.
During the winter terms, pupils compete regularly in water-polo matches, including participation in the London Schools’ league, with some senior pupils choosing this sport as their main one for one or two terms.
A number of Cranleighans has gone on to represent local clubs and university 1st VIIs, including Andy Hailey, Adam Stonell, Nick Williams and Tim Froy, and we hope to continue this strong tradition.
