Medical Centre

MedicalCentreThe Sister and the nurses in the Medical Centre, a converted house situated right next to the campus, provide 24-hour nursing cover. We are a team of six fully qualified Registered General Nurses who look after patients in our homely, eight-bedded Medical Centre. We have qualifications in, amongst other things, paediatric minor injuries, travel health and wound care. We also deal with issues such as asthma, hayfever, diabetes, etc.

If pupils are admitted because they are unwell, we always call their parents to inform them and to see if they wish to take them home. We are happy to allow their friends to visit if they stay with us.  Meals are ordered from the School kitchen, but we can offer snacks such as toasted sandwiches, soups, etc.

Surgeries are held most weekdays by Dr Justin Hughes of Pure Sports Medicine and by Dr Graham Tyrrell and Dr Claire Douglas, with the Tuesday surgery always run by a lady doctor for those who prefer this option. If a pupil needs an urgent appointment and has missed the morning surgery, an appointment can be made at Shere Surgery. A sports specialist doctor from Pure Sports Medicine covers Saturday rugby matches. There is also a School Counsellor, Mr Geof Talbot, who holds a drop-in session at the Medical Centre on Thursday evenings or more frequently by appointment.

There are physiotherapy clinics held every afternoon at the Medical Centre.  Pupils need a referral from the doctor. Parents are contacted for consent and insurance details before any physiotherapy sessions are booked.

For travel health and vaccinations, please click here and return the completed form to the Medical Centre as soon as possible.
