Cranleigh riders divided forces last Saturday, with the seniors taking on the challenge of the Royal Windsor show jumping and the juniors the excitement of the Independent Schools’ One Day Event at Stonar.

The junior team of Lily Hibbert, Josh Moore, Sam Hollidge and Lila Millard had a very successful day, finishing in fourth place outIMG_0338 of the 32 teams taking part.  Having the heat to contend with as well as the three phases of the competition added some difficulties, but our young riders rose to the challenge against teams who were on average much older than ours.  Josh did particularly well to pick up the prize for Best Dressage in his arena and to finish 3rd individually.  Lila finished 11th and Sam 13th in their arenas: with 49 riders in each arena these were very good results.

The Windsor team relished the occasion and were unlucky to have faults to add to the two clears from Charlotte Livingstone and Phoebe Wates.  However, given that Caileigh Faure had only had her horse for 10 days prior to this Windsor Teamcompetition and that Freya Hough is also working with a fairly new pony, they put in a good performance in the buzzy atmosphere of this big show.
