For the third year running Cranleigh riders won the Surrey Dressage title last weekend with a convincing win, which meant not only the Surrey title was theirs but they brought home the Lingfield Notre Dame Equestrian Shield too as the highest placed team from Surrey, West Sussex and Greater London.
Despite having to dodge rain and hail showers throughout the day, and an arena that collected more and more surface water after each downpour, all four A team riders produced consistent and pleasing tests. Josh Moore came second individually, Amy Scheijde fourth, Lila Millard sixth and Daisy Roberts tenth. The B team gave them a good run for their money too, just being nudged into third place overall but taking second spot in Surrey: Jess Edwards finished third overall and was well supported by Maria Mark, Millie Harrison and Phoebe Going.
In the failing light Josh Moore then rode a near foot-perfect Novice test to win the Surrey title in this class, with a pleasing test from Lila putting her in second spot.
Both the team and Josh will now go on to represent Surrey at the National County Championships at Addington in April.
