Following a hugely successful trials day at Charterhouse, the following pupils were selected to represent Waverley at the recent Surrey Championships:

Tory Lock (75m Hurdles), Rhys Lewis (Triple Jump), Katie Coles (200m), Hollie Hodges (Triple Jump), Cameron Reader (200m), Charlie Patient (100m), Dom Fellows (200m), Will Barnicoat (1500m), Aamir Adegunwa (100m Hurdles), Lila Millard (Long Jump), Alizeh Khatau (200m), Emily Reynolds (High Jump), Holly Stather (Discus), Anna Davis (Discus)  and Will Trenholm (Javelin), Oli Clift (800m), Oli Corbett (400m) and James Walker (3000m).

It was a long and gruelling day for some with heats and finals, but nonetheless rewarding! I will be forever impressed with how our athletes handle themselves at these high pressure events. Each athlete remained calm and composed, demonstrating professionalism far beyond their years.

Huge congratulations to the following that are this years Surrey Champions in their respective events: Hollie Hodges, Will Barnicoat, Emily Reynolds, and Katie Coles. James Walker, Holly Stather, Alex Hughes and Will Trenholm were 2nd and Anna Davies was 3rd, which meant all were invited to attend the Inter Counties Competition this weekend, with an aim to achieve the time or distance to attend the prestigious English Schools Track and Field Finals later in the summer.

Will Barnicoat is currently ranked 5th in England for the 1500m (3.57mins), 3rd in England for the 3000m (8.29mins), and holds the school records. Hollie Hodges also broke the Inter Girls Triple Jump School Record (10.09).

Huge congratulations to all who competed. It takes a lot of courage and character to step out onto a track or field competition on your own. There is no hiding! Well done to all.
