Just before Long Leave a number of our hockey players were successful at the National Junior Club Finals.

Zoe Allchurch and Fifi Robinson were in the victorious Surbiton U18 Girls side that beat Cambridge City 6-2 in the final to take the title.

In the U18 Boys final, Freddy Esplen and Will Tristem were part of the winning Guildford team that recorded a 3-1 win over Cheltenham to become champions.

Liv Martin in the U14 Girls had a rather tougher test. Having beaten Cambridge 6-0, Marlow 2-0 and Thirsk 2-1 to top their pool, they drew 0-0 with Sevenoaks in the final. Going to strokes, they were still equal after the first set of five, but managed to grab the gold via sudden death with Liv succeeding in converting both her strokes.

Cranleigh had their biggest representation in the Boys U14 competition with Ben Atkins, Freddie Fewings, Josh Taylor and Scott Walker playing for Guildford. Their pool games were really close but 0-1 losses to both Old Loughtonians and Bowdon meant that their 2-1 win over Plymouth Marjons wasn’t enough to get them out of the pool to the finals.

Well done to each individual for their achievements.
