On Tuesday the Under 14s became Surrey Champions at a very high standard tournament and so qualified for the Regional Finals to be held on Friday 19th November at Cranleigh.

Having just qualified second through their Surrey heats tournament, they were up against a strong Epsom side in their first game to whom they had lost 1-3 earlier in the term. We had three forays into their D in the first half and converted two short corners to lead at half time. Some committed team defending against their talented centre forward in the second half meant the score stayed the same and resulted in a very good 2-0 victory. A comfortable 2-0 win over Charterhouse followed.

So to a big game against a very good St John’s side. We changed system in order to nullify some of their play and held out until the last minute when they finally broke down our defence to grab a 1-0 win. Straight on to an even bigger game against the talented St George’s side with more team defending required. We started to get a foothold in the second half and two minutes from time one of our breakaways yielded a goal and we held on for the second time in three weeks to get an excellent 1-0 victory over St George’s.

A 2-0 victory over Reigate rounded off our tournament and with St George’s, St John’s and Epsom taking points off each other, we ended up as Surrey Champions – a great reward for listening to Miss Johnson’s plans and a commitment to working extremely hard when not in possession.

Squad: Evie A., Kate A., Charlotte B., Flora C., Martha C., Grace C., Bea F., Isla G., Grace J., Maddy K., Eliza L., Martha R., Lucy S., Ella S.
