On Sunday 2nd December the School Choir joined over 1,200 children from schools and youth choirs all over the country, as well as from France and Gibraltar, to perform Handel’s Messiah at the Royal Albert Hall. They were accompanied by the English Festival Orchestra, under conductor Ben Parry, Director of the National Youth Choir. We performed our own Messiah last year and so it was great to have the opportunity to ‘brush it up’ once again and take part in this incredible event which also raised money for the charity ‘Water Aid’.

Anyone who has ever performed in the Royal Albert Hall will know what an awe-inspiring experience it is and the iconic Hallelujah Chorus with that sheer number of keen voices, full orchestra and the mighty RAH Organ was simply incredible. As one of our choristers put it: “I’ve just realised – to perform one of the greatest pieces of choral music ever written in one of the greatest concert halls ever built is a pretty awesome opportunity.” I couldn’t agree more!
