Job Title
Examinations Officer
Joined Cranleigh
May 2018

Before Cranleigh I started working at the age of 16, straight from school. My first job was with Lloyds Bank, from there I moved to Nationwide and on to Bristol & West Building Society, as a Manager. I then left work following the birth of my daughter (who is now 25). I had various part time jobs until a position as Exams Officer was advertised at St Peter’s Catholic School, Guildford. I applied and successfully was offered the job. I was there for 8 years until I moved to Prior’s Field School, Godalming, for a further 8 years.

Having lived in Cranleigh for most of my life, when the Senior Exams Officer position was advertised at Cranleigh School, I decided to apply. And here I am! I started here in May 2018 just as exams were starting for the summer.

My role is to ensure exams are conducted in accordance with JCQ exam regulations, that all schools have to adhere too. I am responsible for the administration of all exams and help to maintain the integrity of exams. This means that I ensure every student is entered correctly for all their exams (sounds easy but can be complicated), and that all the exams are run efficiently and accurately.  I ensure that students and invigilators all know what to do, as key to a good exam is to have calm, stress free students who have remembered their equipment, know where they should be and at what time, and know what the expectations regarding behaviour are. I am basically there to ensure that we support the students throughout the exam process.

Working at Cranleigh I have found the community to be very supportive and inclusive. I must mention the brilliant IT, works and domestics team that I work closely with when exams are on. I enjoy my job and in particular seeing the students receive their exam results in the summer, where they can see all their hard work (and mine) has paid off.
