Academic work inevitably constitutes the cornerstone of a pupil’s life at Cranleigh, and over the last ten years the academic performance of the pupils has consistently hit new heights. Strong performances across a broad range of GCSE choices, followed by a committed and determined approach to three or four academic subjects in the Sixth Form: that is the standard academic profile of a Cranleighan.

Two particular concepts underpin our approach to academics. Firstly, we seek always to exploit the gifts and fulfil the needs of each individual pupil and gain much pleasure in seeing that pupil reach – or in some cases surpass – his or her academic potential. Secondly, our approach to teaching is best characterised by the emphasis we lay on collaboration between pupils and staff in seeking to discover the fun and humour to be found in academic achievement.
