We left the Town House Lodge at 9 and travelled to Kawama for a Sunday Church service where we sung Lord of the Dance as our contribution to the service. The service was very different from what we were used to back home: the services are a lot more energetic and verbal and involved the audience in their songs and prayers. The service was very emotional because most of the congregation were praying out loud and weren’t afraid to show their emotions towards God.

After the service, we cleared up the church and prepared it for a clothes sale. The clothes were donations brought from the UK, which were sold at appropriate prices, to enable the local community to raise money themselves to pay for their needs. This year, the target was to pay for a fence to surround the school and protect it from theft. In total we raised 7,700 Kwacha which was above and beyond what we thought we would raise. The success of the event showed that even through times of hardship, there was still enough money to contribute to their families and community.
