Cranleigh A Levels Results Day_31693Pupils are celebrating another successful year at A Level, with 75 per cent of A Level grades at A*-B and an overall pass rate of 99.1 per cent. Despite a national context of falling numbers gaining the top grades, the School has maintained its strong academic results with 40 per cent of A Level passes in the A*/A category and 75% at A*-B.

Deputy Head (Academic) Mr David Boggitt, said: “We are lucky to have a high staff-to-student ratio, with strong collaborative relationships in the Sixth Form, with teachers, tutors, house staff and students all working closely together to achieve the best outcomes.

“It’s always a fantastic occasion to see the results of all that hard work. The students have really put in the effort and we’re delighted to see them celebrating today.”

Nearly 20% of students gained A*/A in three or more subjects and the following students all achieved three or more A* graded A Levels: Olivia Chesser, Jake Harvey, Ellie McAleese-Park and Ali Johnston.

Headmaster, Martin Reader, was particularly pleased with the performance of the year group at the end of his second year: ‘These students proved that it is possible to combine strong academic performance with excellence in other areas. Cranleigh was the only school in the country with National Finalists in three major sports for girls and boys at U18 level. This year group won the Rosslyn Park 7 aside competition, were runners up in the girls’ national hockey and were National T20 cricket finalists having won the South East and London region competition.  Prestigious music scholarships were won at The Royal Northern College of Music and at Wells Cathedral. Employers tell us that they look at academic aptitude and personal qualities. I am pleased that Cranleigh continues a broad focus and this year group certainly knew how to perform when it matters. I know they will go on to be very successful.’

The students who collected their results today are already focusing on their futures and the vast majority have had their university places confirmed.
