To mark the opening of the Bakery in Zambia, we held our very own Bake Off. Pupils competed in houses to fight for a place in the final as part SONY DSCof our Zambia Celebration Day. Under the close supervision of the catering staff, the pupils created their showstoppers.  Competition was fierce and in true Bake Off style, things didn’t always go according to plan. Simon Cornwell from Celebration Cakes, had a very difficult  job deciding on the winners.

Harry Simmonds from East got us in the Christmas spirit with his mouth watering shortbread mincemeat,SONY DSC gaining him the Upper School prize and Katie St Johnston from West cooked a spectacular chocolate malteser cake earning her the Lower School prize.

Our friends in Kawama  School are all given the same meal at lunch time and for some children this is their only meal of the day. They have a  choice; they can take it or leave it, but they never leave it. To challenge our thinking and to

SONY DSChelp us appreciate that we are fortunate enough to have a choice, the Zambian celebration day lunch was a lucky dip. Pupils and staff rummaged in the buckets to pull out a ticket to then swap for their lunch.  It was fascinating to listen to the conversations around the  tables and see just  how many people shared their meal, swapped tickets or tucked into their full plate of Kawama School-style lunch whilst others looked  on hungrily, appreciating their soup.

Well done to everyone who took part during the day, helping to raise nearly £1000 for Kawama School.
