Cranleigh celebrated National Boarding Day doing what it does: after a morning of lessons and tutorials, there were 29 boys’ and girls’ sports fixtures against Hurst, Eastbourne, Pangbourne, Wellington College and Epsom College. All of us have boarders and a full Saturday programme keeping our pupils active and learning to be healthy, to win and lose and develop friendship and teamwork with a competitive spirit.

In the morning Mrs Lewis chaired the Charities Committee, co-ordinating the efforts of the houses. Each year the houses between them raise around £25,000 for charity and on Saturday night North House started the ball rolling with a parents, staff and pupils curry and quiz night.

Modern boarding is all about providing the right support for our students at whatever age. All our students take part in the AS tracking process developed by STEER to help house staff know their pupils better and to target their pastoral care most effectively. This time it was the turn of our Sixth Formers to be involved in the assessments during tutorials.

All in all, school was as vibrant, busy and fun as ever which is why #iloveboarding.
