Cubitt House celebrated Mrs Jan Goldsmith’s retirement with a garden party. The House braved the rain showers and enjoyed musical performances from many of the boys.

After a three-year contract turned into more than 30 years at Cranleigh, Cubitt House’s beloved Matron, Mrs Goldsmith, is retiring at the end of this term. The role of Matron has evolved beyond recognition over the last 30 years, with no two days the same.

Mrs Goldsmith has many stories to tell of the adventures, misdemeanours and triumphs including the boy who went to lessons before realising he’d forgotten to put his trousers on. She has beamed with pride as she described watching the boys grow and develop into the young men they are when they leave. The friendships developed, the lessons learned, the resilience gained, Mrs Goldsmith has seen it all.

Described by an OC as the “best person in the world” it’s easy to see the impact she has had on the hundreds of boys who have made their way through Cubitt. Thank you to Mrs G. for dedicating your life to Cranleigh, you will be missed!
