Swimming at Cranleigh is improving dramatically, both competitively and non-competitively, with swimmers regularly receiving medals in county competitions across all age brackets. The swim team also regularly competes at National events such as the Bath Cup where we have been placed in the top five regularly.
Our 25 metre, four-lane pool is put to full use throughout the year with both boys and girls training together in morning and afternoon sessions under the tutelage of the Head of Swimming.
Some pupils take advantage of the Lifeguarding and Swimming Teacher courses that are available once or twice each year, obtaining a qualification that can earn them some extra pocket-money in holidays or after they leave school. Life-saving courses are also available as part of the activity programme.
During the Michaelmas term, the School swim team competes in the Surrey Schools County Relay Championships, Division 11 trials (the selection of Surrey and Kent’s best swimmers to go to schools’ nationals) and National schools competitions.
During the Lent term, the swim team competes in the Independent Schools Bath Cup, Surrey Schools Individual Championships as well as the Guildford and District Championships. In the Summer term, the swim team compete weekly in inter-school galas.
