Lower School pupils and parents enjoyed the first of this year’s concert series on Tuesday 18th September.  They were treated to the fabulous all-singing, all-dancing, internationally-renowned theatrical string quartet, the ‘Bowjangles’. The performance, entitled ‘Excalibow’, was a fast-paced fable drawing on an eclectic mix of myths and legends.

The premise of the story was that cellist, Ezme Gaze, had sold her soul in exchange for the ability to dance and play the cello standing up. With their magical ‘Excalibow’ and Mr Bowjangles as their spirit guide (with the body of a cello, the face of a violin and bows for arms), the quartet gave a virtuosic whistle-stop tour of a myriad of musical styles, from ABBA to Wagner.

This was a truly unique and inspirational experience for the school’s string players, as a well as for all the Lower School pupils, and was a fabulously fun way to kick-off the year’s concert series.
