Musicians from Cranleigh Prep and Cranleigh School collaborated on Friday evening at an outstanding concert, proudly celebrating classical music at its best. Soloist Richard English (Accordion) performed ‘A tribute to Astor’ and the audience loved hearing this unusual instrument played so brilliantly.

He was then joined by members of the Tango Band to play ‘Libertango’ by Astor Piazzolla which was played with splendid driving rhythms and a suitably feisty character.

Later in the programme, the Chamber Choir performed three moments of Chilcott’s ‘A Little Jazz Mass’ accompanied by piano, bass and drums. This beautifully crafted setting was perfect to show off the choir’s crisp diction, confident harmonies and expressive singing.

The younger children enjoyed hearing the advanced choral and brass ensembles and marvelled at the skills of the featured soloists, whilst the capacity audience was delighted to have been part of such an exciting evening.
