Congratulations to our Director of Art, Mr Rob Perry, who was able to show his impressive artistic talents on this year’s ‘Portrait Artist of the Year’ where he had Dan Snow, historian and adventurer, sit for him. Without giving too much away he did very well.

The competition is filmed at the Battersea Arts Centre and televised on Sky Arts where artists enter with a self-portrait painted within the last five years. They are selected on merit by a panel of expert judges. During the first round the artists are given four hours to paint a surprise celebrity sitter. Mr Perry was selected as a finalist in his heat for his balanced portrait of Dan Snow. The heat winners then compete in the semi-final with three semi-finalists through to the final. The winner will paint a £10,000 commission of broadcaster Lorraine Kelly that will sit in Edinburgh’s Scottish National Portrait Gallery and receive materials from Cass Art.

Cranleigh is really proud of Mr Perry’s achievement and are delighted his work has been shown to a national audience.
