{"id":13456,"date":"2016-02-02T10:27:44","date_gmt":"2016-02-02T10:27:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cranprep.org\/?p=13456"},"modified":"2016-02-02T10:27:44","modified_gmt":"2016-02-02T10:27:44","slug":"13456","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cranleigh.org\/prep\/2016\/02\/02\/13456\/","title":{"rendered":"Launch of the CPS Theatre Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This weekend saw the launch of the Prep School Theatre Club with two trips to two theatre productions.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday night, 14 Form 5 children headed to G Live in Guildford to watch The Lord of the Flies.\u00a0\u00a0Based on William Goulding\u2019s classic novel, this play tells the story of a group of schoolboys who, following a catastrophic plane crash, lived together on a desert island.\u00a0 Their adventure quickly descended into a struggle for survival.\u00a0 Our pupils were captivated by the performance, which gripped them from the moment the show began.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday morning, 14 Form 3 children travelled to Chichester Theatre to watch the adaptation of Jacqueline Wilson\u2019s book, Hetty Feather. With a cast of just six and a few simple props, we were treated to a vibrant, musical adventure that left us all enthralled and uplifted.\u00a0 The show, which captivated the children for two hours, was based in Victorian England and told of the heartbreak and courage of a young, spirited girl left at London\u2019s Foundling Hospital.\u00a0 The play started with the words \u201cYou can be whoever you want to be,\u201d and we left excited in the knowledge that we could.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This weekend saw the launch of the Prep School Theatre Club with two trips to two theatre productions.
