We enjoyed the first Upper School Book Breakfast of this academic year on Saturday.\u00a0 25 children joined Mrs Schutte and Mrs Fenton in the library for hot chocolate, croissants and lots of book talk.<\/p>\n
To mark National Poetry Day, we discussed an inspirational poem written, by Roger McGough, especially for the day.\u00a0 The poem is called, \u201cA message to the future\u201d and an excerpt of our favourite verses can be found below:<\/p>\n
Tomorrow has your name on it<\/p>\n
It\u2019s written up there in the sky<\/p>\n
As you set out on a journey<\/p>\n
In search of the How? And the Why?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Oh the dreams that you\u2019ll dream<\/p>\n
The chances you\u2019ll take<\/p>\n
The prizes you\u2019ll win<\/p>\n
The hands that you\u2019ll shake.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But don\u2019t let your dreams<\/p>\n
Get too big for their boots<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t hanker after the flimflam of fame<\/p>\n
If you hunger for mere celebrity<\/p>\n
You\u2019ll be drawn like a moth to the flame.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
For having dreams is not enough;<\/p>\n
You must get down and do your stuff.<\/p>\n
Take the ready with the rough.<\/p>\n
Ride the punches, and my hunch is<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Take your time.<\/p>\n
Sing your own songs and laugh out loud.<\/p>\n
Weep, if you need to<\/p>\n
But away from the crowd.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
So dream your dreams and journey<\/p>\n
Be tomorrow foul or fine<\/p>\n
So you can say at the end of it<\/p>\n
