Many congratulations to Matilda, Form 6, who has won three consecutive climbing championships – in Glasgow, Wales and Manchester.<\/p>\n
Matilda’s first success was in Glasgow, where she won the Scottish Bouldering Championships.<\/p>\n
She followed this up by becoming the Welsh Lead Climbing Champion (for her age group) in Caernarfon two weeks later. <\/p>\n

After a week’s rest whilst on the Form 6 trip to Cornwall, Matilda was up in Manchester for the British Youth Bouldering Championships last weekend, where she won the British Bouldering title as well!<\/p>\n
Matilda is still in age group C, which is made up of 12 and 13 year olds. There were 34 competitors and the top six progressed to the finals.<\/p>\n\n
The final consisted of four boulder problems, with five minutes on each problem, followed by a five minute rest, before moving on to the next one. Maximum points are scored for reaching the top but it’s also important to do this with the fewest attempts.<\/p>\n
Matilda won the final because she had the same number of tops and bonuses, but with the fewest attempts compared to the other competitors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
