The theme \u2018Music through the ages\u2019 was a journey through musical history and featured performers from the Cranleigh Music team.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Pashley utilised Dr Who\u2019s Tardis to time travel between musical periods. They began in the Renaissance Period with Mrs Beddison performing a beautiful recorder piece by Obrecht.<\/p>\n<p>The Baroque Period was represented by Mr Scriven who demonstrated Bach\u2019s virtuosity on the harpsicord. Mr Weaver (Head of Strings) played a piece by Boccherini from the Classical period, whilst Dr Ward (Head of Keyboard) performed a Chopin favourite from the Romantic Period.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-35558\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cranprep.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/CPS-Music-Through-the-Ages_IMG_4845_59712-250x188.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\"><\/p>\n<p>The contributions from the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century were varied and hugely enjoyable. Dr Thomas (Head of Woodwind) played a modern piece on the flute, which expertly demonstrated extended techniques.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Eaglestone (Head of Brass) performed a jolly jazzy piece on the trombone before Mr Royall and Mr Maxwell concluded the concert with a wonderful blues song.<\/p>\n<p>The children had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon as they listened enthusiastically and were wowed by the wonderful music that they were exposed to.
