After weeks of studying the rainforest they would now have the opportunity to experience the habitat of one. Talk of pitcher plants, drip tips, sensitive plants and traveller\u2019s plants had fuelled their curiosity.<\/p>\n<p>We arrived at Kew after a very enjoyable coach journey to a much needed drink and biscuit. With renewed energy we entered into the gardens to meet our Rainforest Workshop leader, Miss Lewthwaite . <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-36636\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cranprep.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Copy-of-IMG_1125-250x188.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\"><\/p>\n<p>Miss Lewthwaite introduced the classes to a range of Rainforest workshops. Firstly, she dangled an inflatable globe, firing geographical questions at them. The children filled the air with correct responses, as their teachers beamed with pride.<\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, the classes had fun guessing Rainforest products in the form of games and even had time for a little musical interlude before heading off to lunch, much to the children\u2019s delight.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-36635\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cranprep.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Copy-of-IMG_1116-250x188.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\">After lunch they went to see the spectacular Orchids Festival in the Princess of Wales Conservatory. Orchids of every size and vibrant colour adorned the glass house. One of the &nbsp;highlights was seeing pitcher plants; curious children peered into the jug-shaped plant to find its digestive juices.<\/p>\n<p>Before heading back to the coach we had a chance to visit the spectacular Palm House&nbsp;to admire papaya trees, rubber plants, epiphytes, bromeliads, not to mention the long awaited traveller\u2019s plant.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-36633\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cranprep.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Copy-of-IMG_1102-250x188.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\"><\/p>\n<p>What a brilliant day \u2013 and what a huge amount the children saw \u2013 and will remember.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The sun shone brightly yesterday as Form 1 boarded the coach; the Humanities trip to Kew Gardens had finally arrived!
