{"id":39053,"date":"2019-09-06T15:15:41","date_gmt":"2019-09-06T14:15:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cranprep.org\/?p=39053"},"modified":"2019-09-06T15:15:41","modified_gmt":"2019-09-06T14:15:41","slug":"music-round-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cranleigh.org\/prep\/2019\/09\/06\/music-round-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Music Round Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several CPS pupils took part in summer Music courses over the holidays, with the National Youth Choir at Framlingham College in Suffolk, the National Children\u2019s Choir at Shrewsbury School, a Hackney Choral Course and the Guildford Musicale course.<\/p>\n<p>National Children\u2019s Choir members, Cecilia B and Josie H, joined fellow singers at Shrewsbury School in July. The schedule built in time for a recording session, including Cecilia McDowell\u2019s \u2018The Girl from Aleppo\u2019 in the presence of the composer. At the end of the week there was a celebration concert, where the four choirs of different ages performed to each other. Everyone especially enjoyed the choreographed numbers!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-37350 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cranprep.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/NYC-summer-2019-250x161.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"161\"><\/p>\n<p>Alice P was delighted to reunite with friends made on previous National Youth Choir courses at Framlingham College, as well as having the chance to make more new friends. Singing was to be heard from morning \u2018til night as the girls tackled music from all corners of the globe \u2013 even as far as New Zealand!<\/p>\n<p>The final concert was awe-inspiring, showcasing their voyage of musical discovery, and Alice was lucky enough to be chosen to sing in a trio at the beginning of one of the more lyrical pieces. Some of the girls\u2019 favourites included a version of the \u2018Cup\u2019 song, arranged by Esther Jones (yes, they all performed the routine too!) and a rap by Stormzy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-37351 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cranprep.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/2019_Musicale-Course-Copy-250x122.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"122\">Anise R, Oliver R and Cecilia B joined with local orchestral players for ensemble playing at the Guildford Musicale Course in August. Focusing on a wide range of repertoire, they enjoyed playing pieces designed for symphony orchestra. There were also some pieces for instrumental groupings such as strings, brass and woodwind. The music was crafted to suit the experience of the participants, so that everyone was able to improve their own level of performance in the happy company of friends.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bella S was one of 46 children who attended the week long Hackney Choral Course, supported by the music outreach&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-37355 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cranprep.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Bella-S-course-250x188.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\">programme at St Paul\u2019s Cathedral.
