Friday saw the culmination of the Schools’ Fives season with the U18 Girls\u2019 Nationals at Repton and a very exciting collaboration between the schools with Charlotte B from the Upper Sixth at Cranleigh School pairing up with the Prep School\u2019s Form 6 Matilda F.<\/p>\n

No one really knew what to expect, we hoped that we would be competitive but we were in unknown territory with Matilda playing girls five years older than herself.<\/p>\n

What followed was quite remarkable. The girls gelled beautifully and were a credit to the school. Charlotte looked after her younger partner superbly and Matilda\u2019s performances grew stronger and stronger as the day progressed.<\/p>\n

Cranleigh won their group beating the pre-tournament favourites on the way and then progressed through the rounds without dropping a game.<\/p>\n

In the final they played against Shrewsbury, one of the powerhouses of the school game, and came through comfortably winning 3-0.<\/p>\n

Huge credit goes to both of the girls who achieved a quite remarkable feat. It is the first time that Cranleigh has won an open tournament at National level.<\/p>\n

Mr Halstead, Fives Coach said “I could not have been prouder of them”<\/p>\n
