Yesterday evening, Cranleigh Prep School were delighted to welcome our Patron of Reading, Lucy Strange, to launch her brand-new book \u2018The Island at the Edge of Night\u2019 . As an added bonus the cover illustrator, local artist Katie Hickey was also able to attend. The evening started with an informal discussion hosted by our librarian Mrs Fenton followed by a Q & A session and book signing.<\/p>\n
This special event was the culmination of Lucy\u2019s year as our Patron of Reading and was a great finale to the relationship she has built with us since last September. Throughout her three visits she has presented to every single year group, run creative writing workshops and set writing competitions with her own books as prizes.<\/p>\n
Mrs Fenton, our school librarian said \u2018This event was such a wonderful evening. The pupils were very attentive and enjoyed hearing about the processes that go into both the writing and illustration of books. I think Lucy and Katie were a huge inspiration for them and guests commented afterwards on the excellent questions that were asked”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
