Cranleigh’s Futures department is the perfect place for the ambitious and the inquisitive to plot their next steps. With extensive experience and a global reach, we are a springboard into the world of work.

We are proud to work in partnership with the Old Cranleighan Society, whose members help to facilitate events, work placements and mentoring for pupils of all ages.

Our aim is to develop employability skills through the curriculum and our co-curricular programme. We introduce our students to the importance of employability early and encourage them to develop their skills throughout their time with us. To us, employability incorporates the knowledge, understanding and personal attributes that make a person more likely to secure and retain occupations in which they are successful and happy.

Cranleigh Futures

All pupils have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of careers at the annual Futures Fair or Gap Fair, where they listen to talks from parents, Old Cranleighans and external speakers. All our Upper Fifth pupils take part in a week’s work experience at the end of the Summer term after exams have finished. This gives them the opportunity to discover what a possible career is really like and enables them to further enhance their employability skills.

We also hold a number of ‘one-off’ talks from external speakers across a wide range of industries. These tend to feature innovative and growth industries, giving Cranleighans an insight into the technology-driven jobs of the future.

Cranleigh Network

The Cranleigh Network is a ‘careers for life’ programme that is a joint initiative between the School and the Old Cranleighan Society. The Network is intended as a genuine support organisation for all former pupils. The Network offers help with work placements, CV design and post-graduate employment to potential career change initiatives later in life.
