The rain fell and with it brought an end of Phase 1 of our sports programme. From the start of this week (Monday 5th October) we will be entering into Phase 2, which will take us up to half term. Phase 3 will then start after half term, and continue through to the end of the Michaelmas term in December.
It has been a busy time, but I hope an enjoyable one for the pupils. Personally, I have been incredibly impressed with the training attitude of so many individuals. Some particular highlights have been seeing pupils getting up early to do either their own, or organised extra fitness sessions, as well as additional skill sessions throughout the day.
Last week, a decision was made by SMT that there would be no fixtures of any kind until half term, at which point the School will review this decision to determine feasibility of fixtures for the second half of term. In the meantime, internal competitions will be happening following Government guidelines and NGB protocols.
With the recent RFU news about no community matches taking place for rugby at all until January, Phase 3 for the boys will look different to Phase 2. It is highly likely that we will offer some more variety away from rugby for one or two sessions a week. The girls will carry on this Phase 2 programme into Phase 3, with hockey as a sport further down the pathway.
Away from planning, our riding team continued their winning streak this weekend with an Intermediate Show Jumping win. However, what was special about this week was that it involved new team members who only joined us this term. Madeleine R. was also jumping in a competition for the first time on a new horse that she has only had for three weeks, and secured a clear round that meant we finished on a zero score as a team. Georgia S. and Hattie G. also made their team debuts and had clear rounds. All four members of the team finished in the top ten individually too.
