Rounders is played primarily by girls in the summer term, with a team that has regular matches from each of the three lower school year groups. Teams we tend to play include St Mary’s, Brighton, Hurstpierpoint, Eastbourne and Epsom. Over the past few years our teams have had mixed success, but a highlight was the unbeaten U16 team from the 2008 season. In addition to external matches we hold Junior and Senior House matches, and mixed Rounders comes into play in the summer leagues.
The emphasis for the Rounders in the School is about having fun and getting a good run about, although we are, as a sport, trying to raise our profile.
Two members of the coaching team will by the end of the season have senior level coaching or umpiring qualifications recognised by the National Rounders Association (NRA). The School is currently a member of the NRA.
Practices are held on Friday afternoons from 3.30pm until 4.30pm on the Lowers playing field.
All players must wear proper Cranleigh School kit (white polo shirt, games skirt or Cranleigh tracksuit bottoms and trainers). No jewellery allowed.
If you have not made one of the Athletics, Swimming or Tennis teams, you should be at Rounders practice.
