Cranleigh School

Last weekend’s sport was impacted by the rain, but it didn’t stop us from completing all the tennis matches and some cricket games before the weather set in. Thank you for your patience throughout, and fingers crossed for some dry weather this week.

In tennis, we had a full round of matches against Charterhouse. Congratulations to our Under 15 girls’ teams (A and B), who won 6-3 and 7-2 respectively. This was a highly impressive result. In cricket, our 1st Boys team managed to play a T20 match, beating RGS Guildford by 8 wickets, which sets us up nicely for the regional final on Friday. Our 15A girls side lost their cup match, bringing to an end a highly impressive cup run for the team. It was also lovely to hear that many of the cricket games were very close to a Cranleigh victory before the rain cut the matches short.

Teams of the week:

  1. The 15A and B girls’ tennis teams. They won their matches 6-3 and 7-2 against Charterhouse and played some excellent doubles tennis throughout the afternoon. The team consisted of Bella B., Isla Rose A., Chloe G., Evelyn L., Freya E-Y., Alice Y., Arabella F., Olivia F., Annabel H., Anja O., Lily W., and Hannah-May F..

We had some wonderful cup cricket games and golf matches during the week. The 1st XI Girls team had the annual MCC match on Tuesday. It was wonderful to see four old cranleighans in the MCC side and it was a very proud day for us. The U14 and U15 Boys cricket teams sadly lost their cup match but can be proud of their journey in those competitions especially the U15 team who made it through to the semi-finals. On Wednesday we had the Kemp Quaich Golf tournament with our Fourth and Lower Fifth form competing. Congratulations to the winner Noah O., second place Freddie M. and Tom C. in third.

We wish the 1st XI Boys cricket team all the best today as they play in the regional T20 final.
