Friday saw another fantastic day at the Schools Swimming Super League Finals. Reaching the A Finals was a superb achievement, with the team finishing 8th overall—an accomplishment every swimmer should be proud of. Special congratulations to Jamie T. (Boys’ Captain), who won Gold in the 50m Fly, and Siena R., who claimed Bronze in the 50m Backstroke. A shout-out also to Luke G., who knocked a full second off his personal best in the backstroke leg of the U18 4×50 Medley.
The weekend was packed with fixtures as the Girls’ Netball and Boys’ Hockey teams faced Bradfield. The U14 Netball A, B, and C teams all recorded impressive wins, with a special mention to the 14B team for their best performance of the season. The 15B-E teams also dominated, showcasing the depth of talent in the squad. Notable contributions came from Susan S. and Annie H. in the 15D team’s success. The 6th VII continued their strong form with a hard-fought 20-16 victory.
On the hockey pitch, the 14C team secured a 4-1 win, building on last week’s momentum. The 4th XI delivered an outstanding performance to edge a 1-0 victory, while the 15B and 15C teams continued their excellent seasons. Impressively, the U15 hockey sides have now won or drawn over 90% of their matches this season.
Individually, it was a standout weekend for several athletes:
- Charlotte B. becomes our first female international rugby player by being selected for England U18. Joe T. made his debut for Scotland U18s against Wales.
- Arthur K. played a key role in Rosslyn Park U14’s triumph in the Surrey Gold Tier Final.
- Benji W. ran superbly for Surrey, helping secure Silver at the English Schools Cross Country Championships.
Sunday saw staff and pupils take on the Surrey Half Marathon—a brilliant event with fantastic performances all round. Special thanks to everyone who came out to support. Notable results: Eliza L. finished as the 3rd female U20, Archie L. was the 2nd fastest U20 male, and Rafe W. placed 3rd in the same category. A truly inspiring day for all even if my knee and lungs have yet to recover!
On Monday, well done to our climbers who competed at the National Independent Schools Climbing Competition. Congratulations also to Rhodes, who claimed victory in the Monday Night Football final, edging West 1-0.
The week continued with a busy schedule of matches and tournaments:
- A huge congratulations to the U18 Boys’ Hockey team, who were crowned champions of the St George’s Sixes tournament, winning 7 matches, including a dramatic semi-final shuffle victory over St George’s and triumphing in the final. This is a truly brilliant result and well done to all.
- The 14A Netball team won their tournament with wins over Priors Field, Tormead, and Charterhouse, and a draw with Guildford High. This is a brilliant result against lots of schools who play two terms of netball, so a huge well done to them.
- The U18 Rugby Sevens team delivered another strong performance, securing wins over Rugby and Abingdon before narrowly losing in sudden death in the quarter-finals.
- The Boys Football teams had a brilliant showing against Charterhouse. The 1st XI won 3-2, the 2nd XI won 2-1, the 3rd XI won 2-0. Charlie E. scored two goals for the 3rd XI taking his tally to 14 goals in 6 matches this term!
- The Senior Netball teams played Ardingly College with the 4th and 3rd VII both winning. The 3rd and 4th netball teams secured their unbeaten season and have been incredible this term.
- The fives teams competed at 14A, 15A, 16a and 1st team on Thursday. The performed strongly and it was wonderful to see again so many playing the sport
