It was another week filled with outstanding performances and results.

The Swimming team secured a victory against Churcher’s College, while our Girls’ Indoor Hockey team advanced to the regional finals after an impressive showing at the Surrey finals. On Saturday, the Boys’ rugby teams won 11 out of 12 matches. A special mention goes to our 5th XV, who faced Wellington College’s 4th XV. Despite a loss, they showed resilience, scoring a spectacular cross-field try in the final play. The Girls’ hockey teams also shone against Brighton, with wins for the 1st XI, 3rd team (still unbeaten), 4th team, and the 16A, 15A, and 15C squads. Additionally, there were well-fought draws for the 15B and 14C teams—congratulations to all involved.

On Sunday, our U14 netballers delivered a strong performance at the National Schools County Qualifier, and the Equestrian team impressed at the National Eventers Challenge. A special congratulations to Anya M, who competed brilliantly at Aintree and qualified for the Grand Prix eventing final this weekend—a remarkable feat for such a young rider and horse. Well done, Anya! We also had some wonderful news with Luisa C. being selected for the Wales U18 hockey squad even though she is still U16. A huge achievement and well done to her.

Teams of the Week

  • Boys’ 2nd XV rugby: With just a minute to go against Hampton, Tom W. intercepted the ball on his own try line and sprinted 90 meters to score, sealing a dramatic comeback victory.
  • Girls’ U14 netball: After consistent Thursday training sessions, the team excelled on Sunday, defeating Caterham, Royal Russell, St Catherine’s, and Croydon High. This looks like an exciting squad for next term’s netball season.

During the week, our Girls’ U16 and U18 Tier 1 hockey teams competed admirably. The 1st XI drew 2-2 against Wellington College, while the 16A narrowly lost 2-1 to Sutton Valence. The Girls’ 2nd XI hockey team delivered a superb passing display, defeating Hurtwood House 1st XI 4-1.

In squash, our team faced Charterhouse, with Oliver H. and Oscar P. making impressive debuts. The swim team placed second overall out of four schools, triumphing over Bede’s and Christ’s Hospital. Notable individual wins came from Siena R., Polly F., and Chloe G., while Anna S., Aston S., Felix B., and Lizzie K. achieved significant personal bests.

Finally, the Boys’ 1st XI football team travelled to Bristol Grammar School for the ISFA Shield last-16 match, winning 5-2 after taking an early lead. This victory takes them to the quarter-finals, and we wish them every success as they aim to surpass their achievements of the past two years, where they narrowly missed out in the finals.
