Mr Chris Stearn has been Head of the Geography department since 2013 and is a tutor in Rhodes House. He studied, as an undergraduate, at the University of Oxford and graduated with a BA in Geography. He also completed an MPhil in Polar Studies at Cambridge University. This was followed by three years of DPhil study at the University of Oxford, looking at weathering processes in desert environments, including fieldwork to the Namib Desert and Antarctica.
Before Cranleigh, Mr Stearn taught at Bedford School, where he was a resident boarding house master and King Edwards School, Birmingham. Mr Stearn is a keen sportsman, having gained an Oxford cricket Blue, and playing university hockey. He also manages the school picture framing studio and the school allotment.
