Medical Centre Sister
Mrs Fran Ledger is the Sister in charge of running the Medical Centre as well as caring for pupil and staff medical and mental health needs. There has been a huge change in the services provided since she joined Cranleigh more than twelve years ago and she can confidently say that their patients enjoy the very best of care from a dedicated team of nurses and a wide range of other highly qualified health professionals.
One of Mrs Ledger’s first jobs after qualifying as an RGN was on the paediatric ward at the Royal Marsden Hospital, something that left a lasting impression on her. Work in Harley Street, having two children of her own and time working as a District Nurse all followed before school nursing beckoned, and she was able to provide care for young people once again.
Mrs Ledger loves the fact that their work at the Medical Centre is so varied – they never know what will come through the doors next or what they might be called out to see in an emergency. No two days are ever the same which makes it such an interesting and varied job, and certainly keeps them on their toes!
Working as part of a valued team, caring for young people and the diversity of the work are all reasons why Mrs Ledger enjoys her job at Cranleigh so much. Knowing that they can deal with whatever situation arises, that pupils are safe in their care when they are unwell or injured and that they are able return them to both classes and sport in better health definitely provides great job satisfaction.
