Mr James Witcombe graduated from Loughborough in 2002 but liked it so much he stayed on another year to complete a PGCE in Secondary Education. Mr Witcombe came to Cranleigh in 2008 to teach Physics. He took over as Housemaster of East in September 2013 from the current Deputy Head after being Deputy Housemaster in North for almost four years.
During his first six years at Cranleigh Mr Witcombe undertook various roles including Head of Rugby, Head of Physics and master in charge of the Common Room Bar. Mr Witcombe currently lives in East with his wife Jo and two young sons Ethan and Jack. A keen sportsman, though these days he is a better spectator than participator, he coaches rugby, rugby sevens and athletics and enjoys being involved in all aspects of life at Cranleigh.
When not in East or the classroom Mr Witcombe enjoys spending time with his family, reading, getting out on his bike or trying to relive his glory days playing touch rugby.
